Worryingly Cadishead has voted in a Tory for the second time running. Again it appears the Labour vote has been split by the dubious Community Action Party. The likelihood is that many Labour voters stayed at home, with a turnout of just 36.9% (although this is better than usual for this election). If just another 500 people had turned out then we would see big differences to the result, which makes it difficult to extrapolate. The local Labour group, however, have done little electioneering and their complacency now means Irlam and Cadishead no longer appear red on the political map.
