Last year's Toy Run was an amazing spectacle. but it appears that the local authorities have finally won their attempt to regulate and ultimately prevent this popular charitable event from occurring. The actions of the police and Salford City Council seem to show little respect or understanding of local identity and culture. The overall costs of £6000 seems a paltry some compared to £24,000 temporary pink ice-rink outside the Council offices in Swinton. I guess the real victims here are the children who face spending Christmas in hopital and the managers of children's hospices in the region. Merry Christmas!

This blogs presents the unfurling corporate history of Irlam and Cadishead. In a way it is a vague and amateurish homage to the film and book Robinson in Space (in which Irlam and Cadishead get a brief mention). The method is simple. Whilst acknowledging the towns' rich personal and sporting heritage, this blogs aims to provide commentary on the industrial development of Irlam and Cadishead's economic identity in a complex global world. Comments are much appreciated.
