Cadishead in Space

This blogs presents the unfurling corporate history of Irlam and Cadishead. In a way it is a vague and amateurish homage to the film and book Robinson in Space (in which Irlam and Cadishead get a brief mention). The method is simple. Whilst acknowledging the towns' rich personal and sporting heritage, this blogs aims to provide commentary on the industrial development of Irlam and Cadishead's economic identity in a complex global world. Fireline

Complex geographies of production are revealed in this news story relating to the sale of Irlam company to a Telford based firm. Fireline's main market is the British Isles, but its suppliers are European and Asian.

The new owners manufacture fires in Shropshire, but the surrounds are made in the North East.

Enterprise Finance Europe who brokered the deal are connected to Bank of Ireland and are based in Belfast, but have half a dozen offices in England, including Manchester.
